Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the Most Commonly Asked Questions by Parents & Students

What is the academic rigor of the OSSD?

The OSSD is an academically rigorous program designed to develop advanced critical thinking. It’s demanding yet accessible for committed students, with personalized support to ensure success in the most challenging subjects such as Advanced Mathematics, Sciences, and university-level English.

How is prior learning recognized?

Through PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition), we evaluate and grant equivalent credits for previous studies. Students with a partial or complete Colombian Bachillerato receive credit recognition, allowing them to finish the OSSD in a shorter timeframe—typically needing 8–12 additional credits.

What level of English is required?

An intermediate level (CEFR B1–B2) is recommended to enter the main program. For students with a more basic level, we offer ESL preparatory courses to develop the academic English needed for OSSD subjects. All classes are delivered in English to ensure full language immersion.

How does university application work?

OSSD graduates apply to universities worldwide in the same way as Canadian students—through OUAC for Ontario universities or via the regular processes for other international institutions. We provide comprehensive application guidance, including essay preparation and all required documentation.
